Places to See Etosha Klein Namutoni – Klein Namutoni: This water hole is an artesian spring. Many animals visit this one, like the black-faced impala, zebra, elephant, leopard and giraffe. Hyena is a regular visitor, and the tiny Damara dik-dik antelope is within this drive. Here you will find the highest concentration of wildlife in Namibia. In Etosha National Park you cannot only see the Big Five elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard and rhino, but also over 130 other mammals such as zebras, giraffes, hippos, hyaenas, various monkeys and antelopes and even the rare African wild dogs.
But the best way to view these incredible creatures inside Etosha is generally at one of the much-feted floodlit waterholes at camps closer to the Etosha Pan, particularly the one at Okaukuejo Camp. We would advise staying at least 3 full days but you can easily spend 4 to 5 days in Etosha if you also include the western area, which we would advise you to do. So thinking of an ideal itinerary this is what we would advise: Arriving through the Galton Gate in the west staying at Dolomite Camp at a bush chalet. It is hardly a secret that Etosha’s best game viewing is at the many waterholes scattered throughout the park. Especially during the dry winters most species rely on these permanent water sources. The larger waterholes see large treks of zebra and springbok mingle with Oryx and bathing elephants.
Etosha is home to four of the ‘big five’ with a steady population of elephant, rhino, lion and leopard, but buffalo has not been resident here since the 1950s. Driving in Etosha.
