Batia waterhole near Namutoni Restcamp during the dry season in Etosha National Park

Batia is named after the first Chief Game Warden of Etosha, Bernade de la Bat.

About:  Batia is a small seep that is named after Bernade de la Bat, who was the first Chief Game Warden of Etosha National Park in 1953. A large growth of juncus sedges encircles the seep, even when it dries up, because the surrounding ground remains very wet.

Water Source: Artesian spring which has been dammed to form a small pool.

Water Availability: Dries up during the late dry season.
