Gemsbokvlakte waterhole near Okaukuejo Restcamp in Etosha National Park

The name Gemsbokvlakte is an Afrikaans name, and simply means the plain of the gemsbok. In Hai||om it is known as an open plain or small pan of water.

About:  During the dry season, the animals stand around the trough at Gemsbokvlakte, patiently waiting for it to fill. A small pool is formed when the trough overflows into the low depression behind it. This site provides excellent game viewing opportunities during the dry season and is a popular spot for photographers during the afternoon.

Water Source: Borehole with a solar pump
