Olifantsbad waterhole near Okaukuejo Restcamp in Etosha National Park

The name Olifantsbad is Afrikaans and it means ‘elephant’s bath’.

About: Olifantsbad is located in attractive Mopane veld between Gemsbokvlakte and Aus. A lovely picnic site with restrooms was built during 2000, providing a venue for visitors to watch the animals coming down to drink. Almost all of Etosha’s species can be seen here, including a very entertaining African wild cat that lurks behind the hide and pounces on unsuspecting turtle doves as they come for a drink.

Water Source: Water-table spring augmented by a borehole and solar pumps

Water Availability: Good
