Small Spotted Genet

Small-spotted genet in Etosha National Park, Namibia

Did you know ...

  • ["They are opportunistic feeders and can be seen hanging around the restaurant area and near the water tower."]

Small spotted genet are not often seen in the park, but are common nocturnal visitors to the Okaukuejo Rest Camp area.

They are opportunistic feeders and can be seen hanging around the restaurant area and near the water tower. You can also keep an eye out for them in the trees and dashing across the roads. They can become very tame and have been known to climb on to tables and help themselves to guests’ dinner in other game parks.

They generally have more stripes than spots running along their dirty white coats and distinct white patches on the face below the eyes. Outside of the camps, they prefer dry woodlands or riverine habitats.
