Dolomite camp first swung its gates open during 2010, and is one of Etosha’s newest accommodation offerings.
The camp is located in the restricted Western areas at Etosha, which are open only to guests at this camp and a few selected travel operators.
As a result, this area is almost untouched, previously used only for sensitive conservation efforts. Breeding programs for rare and endangered species, such as the black rhino, have met with great success here in the undisturbed wilderness of Etosha.
Hartmann’s Mountain Zebra, which are not found in the rest of the park, and black-faced impala, are resident in this area and the many waterholes attract elephant, leopard, lion, springbok, gemsbok and red hartebeest. In addition, the floral diversity of western Etosha is remarkably diverse, especially during the spring, and the endless plains are spectacularly scenic.
Accommodation is in permanent safari tents perched on top of a dolomite outcrop amongst the rolling plains, with uninterrupted views towards the horizon. The camp is unfenced allowing free access to game. Personal escorts ensure the safety of guests at all times and knowledgeable game rangers conduct exclusive and informative game drives to the best game-viewing areas in this pristine wilderness.
For your dining pleasure and convenience, the restaurant serves meals to tempt every palate and service is of the highest hospitality standards. During the heat of the day, the rim-flow pool provides welcome relief overlooking the African wilderness and guests can retire to the bar to discuss their day’s sightings over a drink with companions. Additional facilities include secure parking, a lounge area, curio shop and a waterhole onsite.
Dolomite Camp features just 20 luxuriously appointed safari style tents with magnificent views facing either the sunrise or sunset over the plains and saltpans. No expense has been spared in furnishing and fitting the accommodation. Large comfortable beds, massage showers, an en-suite bathroom and private pools in some of the tents will ensure your stay is comfortable and memorable. There is one tent with disabled access.
Standard facilities in all the tents include:
1. Two ¾ beds
2. Mosquito net
4. Private room safes
5. Bath essentials
6. Lighted make-up mirror and desk, Hairdryer
7. Lounge area with couch and coffee table
